This is my story -
In 1980 when I was a senior in high school I lost my mother, Victoria, at the age of 52 to Ovarian Cancer. My mom and my dad, Wally Morger, had nine children with the youngest at 12 and oldest at 29 at the time of her passing. Fast forward to 2007 and my little sister and best friend, Audra, was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer at the age of 39. She lost her battle in 2011 leaving behind her husband Greg Bonilla and their 9 year old son Grayson. Our family discovered we carried the BRCA1 mutation and I too was BRCA positive. Although I had no symptoms I decided to have elective surgery to have my ovaries and fallopian tubes removed in December of 2012, a week after runnning the Las Vegas Rock 'N Roll 1/2 Marathon with my family, only to wake to hear I too had Ovarian Cancer. Only a week before that, my sister Venetta was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer. Enough!!
There will be a a NEW story, a story of HOPE will fill our family albums as I am undergoing intensive chemo to beat and conquer this beast of a disease. We know there is HOPE and through our faith, we will prove it!!
Help me 'blow the whistle' on Ovarian Cancer symptoms and make the medical world more informed on the 'silent' disease through raising the research dollars we need to hit this where it hurts...A CURE! Check out what I am doing in my day-to-day work to advocate for more dollars for cancer research. Your donation will save lives now. I am so grateful for your contribution. Thank you so much and bless you for helping!!
