BENEFITING: Hope Program
EVENT DATE: Nov 04, 2012
We are so proud of our inaugural New York City Marathon team who will cover over 3,500 miles in training and on race day to help our students get back to work! Preparing to run a marathon and preparing to succeed in the workforce both require sacrifice, hours of dedicated training, and a commitment to the goal. We are will cheer on our runners as they cross the finish line - and we are thankful for their support of our students who are crossing their own personal finish lines!
Please join us in supporting our runners, students and grads!
Empowering men and women to get back to work strengthens our community, our city, and our nation. Employment is The HOPE Program's top priority, and for nearly three decades, we have helped thousands of New Yorkers living in poverty to transform their lives by securing jobs and moving up the career ladder. HOPE consistently achieves results among the strongest in the industry - most recently 72% job placement, 92% 90-day retention, and 75% one-year retention.
The men and women who come to HOPE have faced significant challenges in their lives: low educational attainment, histories of substance abuse and incarceration, little work history and low self-esteem, to name a few. With these backgrounds, many have been turned away or deemed unemployable by other organizations.
With a compassionate learning environment, high expectations and strong results, HOPE is different. Our supportive approach includes hundreds of hours of rigorous work readiness training as well as holistic services such as daily meals, transportation, mental health support, GED tutoring and others. Through our commitment to graduates' long-term job retention and career advancement, HOPE changes lives now and in the future.
We have achieved Charity Navigator's 4-star (their highest) rating for 4 consecutive years and Robin Hood Foundation's Hero Award.
