On Monday, April 15, 2013, Dick and Rick Hoyt will be running their 31th Boston Marathon. They will be joined by a team of carefully selected athletes from Australia, Canada and across the United States to form the 2013 Team Hoyt Boston Marathon Team.
In October 2012, I was selected to coach the 2013 Boston Marathon Team Hoyt group of runners! Through emails, training plans, nutritional advice, injury prevention & stretching, motivation, guidance and responding to any additional needs that come up, the team has been proceeding along to reach their goal.
Now that I am back to the US, l have the opportunity to bring my running experience, knowledge and motivation to all of you. Feel free to email me is you have any running questions??
Patriot Day or Boston Marathon Day is a culmination of training, fundraising, camaraderie and a tribute to how much I love and support the Hoyt's and everything they stand for! These men, (Dick and Rick) motivate and touch people's lives with your support. This cause is so near and dear to my heart that I ran the 2012 Boston Marathon from over 4,000 miles away in while deployed in the desert (Kandahar, Afghanistan)! Thanks to a group of sponsors, friends and volunteers over 1,000 dollars was donated to the Hoyt Foundation and Easter Seals.
For more information about Team Hoyt or if you would like to make an online
donation to the 2013 Boston Marathon Team Hoyt Foundation please go to:
The Hoyt Foundation, Inc., an IRS 501(c)(3) charity whose purpose is help integrate handicapped people into everyday activities so they may live fruitful and productive lives. None of the funds raised go to administration of the Hoyt Foundation, as it is 100% run by volunteers. The Hoyt Foundation gives gifts each year of $25,000 to the Easter Seals summer camp programs and, of course, to the Children's Hospital Boston- Augmentative Communication Enhancement Program. Your support will help Rick and Dick in their outreach for education and integration that is so needed for individuals, their families and our society.
