our son was diagnosed with Crohn's in 2016, a disease we had, until then, hardly heard about. Since then our family has climbed a steep learning curve about what it means for a teenager and the people around him to live with IBD. Although he is doing comparatively well at the moment, we often feel we are sitting on a time bomb as we are anxiously watching him for any signs that could indicate another flare up.
By running the 2017 NYC Marathon for Team IBD Kids and asking you for a donation, I am trying to support Dr. Benkov, the KIDS IBD Program at Mount Sinai and the whole IBD community in their efforts to improve the lives of those who suffer from any form of IBD. Please support my campaign with your generous donation.
Everyone running for Team IBDkids knows that Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, together known as Inflammatory Bowel Disease or “IBD”, are tough on kids. The Children’s IBD Program at Mount Sinai works every day to help these kids and their families cope and live normal, productive lives. IBD is a chronic, life-long disease. There is no known cure, its causes are only partially understood, and it can be debilitating.
But you can help. You can make our marathon run count. Your donation to Team IBDkids will be used to fund research into the cause and treatments of Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis and for support and education programs serving children with IBD and their families.
