BENEFITING: THE IM ABLE FOUNDATION
ORGANIZER: THE IM ABLE FOUNDATION
EVENT DATE: Nov 04, 2012
Hello friends and family,
I'm honored to have the privilege to represent the IM ABLE Foundation on November 4, 2012 by running the New York City Marathon.
I started running three years ago with my friend Janet when she returned to running after she suffered accident injuries. At first, I did various short races, then I did a few half-marathons (13.1 miles) and this past May Janet and I tackled a full marathon. See marathon pictures here or

It went well, but we weren’t sure we would ever do another one. But... having the opportunity to help others, especially children, overcome obstacles changed our minds.
IM ABLE asked Janet to run NYC as their representative because of what she has overcome in the past few years by doing what she can, because she can, which is similiar to IM ABLE's get up and move philosophy.
The marathon is sold out, but IM ABLE had a few slots for people who run it as fundraisers for them. And I signed up!
In the past, I ran to stay healthy and for people that can't run. This is the first time I'm running to benefit others who have difficult obstacles to overcome and as I mentioned at the beginning, I’m so honored to do it! (though thinking of the 26.2 miles, has me wondering if I’m crazy)
IM ABLE provides numerous resources and motivation for many people and one thing they do is provide hand-cycles for children who can’t use regular bikes. One of these costs around $2,000 and I’d love to raise enough money to bless at least two children.
Here's where I need your help, you don't have to do the 26.2 miles with me, but you can help by giving. Any amount helps, please do so by clicking the big DONATE button.
If you give at least $26, you will receive an autographed copy of Janet's book, BECAUSE I CAN. Email JanetOberholtzer@gmail.com with your address when you donate.
All donations are tax-deductible.
IM ABLE will use the funds for whatever needs they have at the time.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
