After an accident in 2004, my doctors told me running was a thing of my past, but four years later, I tackled running again. There was no overnight success. No instant gratification. No quick miracle. It was a step-by-step recovery.
In 2008, I did a few 5ks.
In 2009, I added a few 10ks.
In 2010, I added 10 mile runs and one half-marathon.
In 2011/2012 (a ten-month time period) I did four half-marathons.
On May 20, 2012, the 8th accident anniversary, I did a full marathon. That marathon was about reclaiming a day and about seeing what I can do.
Then IM ABLE contacted me about doing the NYC marathon for them, because my philosophy of doing what I can, with what I have... because I can is similar to IM ABLE’S get up and move motto. I love what IM ABLE does for others, so I said yes.
I'm honored and excited to do
a marathon that is all about others.
IM ABLE is sponsoring me to run NYC, so I don't have to rasie any money for them, but I love what they do, so I want to help them and I'd appreciate help from you, because together we can make an even bigger impact.
Plus, if you give $26 or more, you will receive
a copy of my memoir, BECAUSE I CAN!
After you give, email JanetOberholtzer@gmail.com with your address.
Any amount helps, click the DONATE button on the top right.
