EVENT: 2012 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 16, 2012
This is the inaugural year for the Inner-City Scholarship Fund's participation in the John Hancock charitable marathon numbers program. We are fortunate to have two runners who will be representing ICSF Marathon Team, Matt Giddings and Jenny Cote.
Matt, who works for Integrated Design Group, Inc in Boston, is involved in business development covering the eastern region of the US. He grew up in Concord, MA where his family is still very active parishioners at Holy Family Parish. Matt has is a graduate of St. Sebastian's Country Day and Villanova University and extends his support to ICSF because he understands the value of a Catholic education. “Catholic schools not only teach you the skills you need in the classroom to be successful but they also supply you with tools necessary to be a more complete person, a "Renaissance Man" Matt feels this can be best described in the last sentence of his high school alma mater, St. Sebastian’s, mission statement: “The ideal St. Sebastian’s graduate will be a moral and just person, a gentleman of courage, honor and wisdom, a life-long learner who continues to grow in his capacity to know, to love, and to serve God and neighbor.”
Matt is living in Charlestown, where he has been doing most of his training. He is running his first marathon but having played football at Villanova, dedication and training are not foreign to him. When asked how training was going he commented that “5 a.m. is very cold when you live on the water.”
