Some of you may already know this but for those who don’t: I’m running the NYC Marathon, my first, this fall to raise money for Camp Interactive. CI is a charity that introduces underprivileged, inner-city youth to the wonders of technology while experiencing the great outdoors, two of my favorite things, all right here in Bronx, New York. I’m running for Samuel Perez, a 13 year old, first year at CI who is very excited about being part of the video crew. He’s already been on a hike up Big Slide Mountain with CI where he “learned this cool trick that if you focus on only one star slowly the other stars except the star that you focused on will disappear.” Here’s to you Samuel, keep your eyes on the stars!
ABOUT CAMP INTERACTIVE
Through a unique year-round program, CampInteractive introduces the creative power of technology and the inspiration of the outdoors to underprivileged inner-city youth. Our vision is to use positive experiences to broaden horizons and empower young people to believe in themselves and their futures!
Using both technology and the environment as educational tools, CampInteractive addresses two problems that an underfunded American public educational system faces: providing kids with technological skills for the 21st century, and instilling a sense of community where teamwork and self-confidence can flourish.
Your support will help us continue to develop and create programs that inspire kids to reach for their full potential.
