Syria is the greatest humanitarian crisis of our generation. At the end of 2015, the UN estimates that 13.5 million people need humanitarian assistance inside the country. An estimated 250,000 have been killed. Over 4 million Syrians are now refugees, the largest refugee population in the world.
Mt. Rainier (14,411 ft) is the tallest volcano in the US, but often shrouded in Seattle’s clouds. When the clouds clear, however, you can’t help but stare. Seattleites say, “the mountain is out”. Through this climb, we'd like to direct similar attention to Syrian families, so much like our own, who deserve our help.
Will you join our effort by donating $0.02, $0.05, $0.10, or even a $1.00 for every foot of Mt. Rainier we climb? Our climb will take 3 days. At 1 AM on Day 3, we will depart Ingraham Glacier (11,000 feet) to attempt the summit. Please join us in spirit for a summit sunrise.
100% of every dollar will go directly to Mercy Corps or the International Rescue Committee (IRC). You will receive a tax-deductible receipt for your donation. We are honored to partner with these organizations as two of the most effective organizations helping Syrian families survive, recover, and rebuild.
