#teamjayden fight for the fix
Organized by: Valerie Ayers
Come join us in supporting Jayden's fight to fix his heart. This is a challenge that he has confronted since the day he was born. At that time, the doctors noted that he was born with a thickened septum in his heart. This meant that he would have 3 month check ups, at each visit different test, ultra sounds and stress tests. For the next three years, his doctors noted a progression in the thickening around his heart and this continuous change resulted in taking a closer look and identifying the cause. At 6 yrs. old, he was diagnosed with HCM, Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, a life threatening disease that is managed with daily medication and physical restrictions. Jayden isn't able to do some of the activities that a usual 10 year old can do because the thickened septum slows him down and he is doer not a watcher. So this hard playing boy is missing out on keeping up with his buddies. Jayden is a funny, outgoing, friendly and caring kid. He is also at risk for the progression to become steadier and the meds to be increased and the restrictions to multiply. His doctors and family have decided that it is time to fix Jayden's heart and improve his lifestyle. On August 1st, Jayden and is family will be traveling to The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN where he will have Open Heart surgery. This surgery will result in a longer life expectancy and hopefully avoid a future heart transplant. The disease remains but he has a better chance at a healthier and happier lifestyle. The purpose of the benefit is to assist with medical, travel, housing, and food expenses for a 2 week stay. This life changing surgery will be a dream come true for Jayden.
