UPDATE 08/02/2014: Jenny Rita moved out of the hospital this weekend and is now in a skilled nursing facility in Madison. She is currently wheelchair/bed bound until her x-rays are clear and her surgical pins can be removed. That is estimated to be another 2-4 weeks. After that will be more aggressive physical therapy. Her hope is to still move to Colorado and start that new job as soon as she is physically able. Some other great news! She got out of her initial Colorado lease in the meantime! Crunching the numbers, we do still estimate a high financial need even without that expense, so our fundraising goal will remain the same at this time.
STORY: Jenny is an avid skydiver, ultra-marathon runner, skilled therapist, and all around amazing, loving and generous woman.
She was injured in a skydiving accident on 07/20/14. She had multiple fractures in her pelvis, was med-flighted to UW hospital in Madison, WI, and required surgery. She has a lot of work ahead of her with recovery and physical therapy. To complicate the situation, the accident occurred the same week that she was to move to Colorado and start a new job. She also had already signed a lease in Colorado that she needs to start paying rent on. While Jenny has amazing friends rallying around her: packing & moving her belongings out of her apartment in Chicago, finding temporary housing for her cat Ashley, sending encouraging cards, and visiting her, the financial burden will be very real.
Your contributions will offset the medical copays for the accident, the cost of cobra monthly coverage, the cost of rent for her Colorado apartment, lost wages being in between jobs, and general living expenses during recovery.
Jenny is truly the biggest cheerleader for all of her friends, so we hope that you'll feel moved to help cheer her on now, and support this great cause. Thank you so much for all your love!
