BENEFITING: Transverse Myelitis Association
Jen Starzec wrote -On August 16th, 2011, when she was just 13 years old, Jennifer Starzec acquired a rare condition called Transverse Myelitis. It damaged her spinal cord and left her paralyzed neck-down, as well as causing a number of other complications including chronic pain and fatigue. Jen will be at the TMA Walk-Run-N-Roll this year on September 20th in Downer's Grove, IL. The goal of this event is to raise awareness for Transverse Myelitis (TM), Acute Disseminated Encephalomyelitis (ADEM), Optic Neuritis (ON), and Neuromyelitis Optica (NMO), as well as raise money to support the Transverse Myelitis Association. The TMA does a number of important things such as advocating for people with these conditions, and with your help they can continue to fund their important research and hold their annual TMA Family Camp, amongst many other things. We hope that more doctors will know about this disease and how to treat it. You are strongly encouraged to help in any way you can, whether it be donating or simply spreading the word. Thanks!
