BENEFITING: EB Research Partnership
ORGANIZER: EB Research Partnership
On November 4, I will be running the NYC Marathon to help children with epidermolysis bullosa (EB), a group of devastating and currently incurable blistering disorders. EB sufferers lack a critical protein that binds the layers of skin; as a consequence they frequently experience blisters and skin shearing, which causes severe pain, disfigurement, and in some cases, death. The daily activities that we take for granted---running, touching, and even eating---are constant perils for EB kids and their parents.
One of the children afflicted with EB is Jackson Gabriel Silver, the son of my college roommate Alex and his wife Jamie. Jackson is an incredible kid; he faces daily challenges I cannot even fathom but always has a smile. Alex and Jamie started the Jackson Gabriel Silver Foundation (JGSF), which is dedicated to finding a cure for EB (http://www.jgsf.org/index.html). I am honored to served on JGSF's board and to have the opportunity to run the NYC Marathon in his name.
I have set a goal of raising $4,500 for JGSF. Please help me reach that goal by making a donation to JGSF. Your money will be used to fund research (at places like USC, Stanford, and the University of Minnesota, to name a few) that will ultimately help Jackson and thousands of other children like him.
