Team Jim Shields
Organized by: Richard Pace
On April 7, 2014 my Uncle, Jim Shields, was diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer that has spread to his lungs. With your help, we can donate to Jim and his family to help support them in this tough time.
Uncle Jim was born & raised in Philadelphia, Pa and grew up in the Olney section of the city with his mother, father, brothers & sister. It was then that Jim learned the value of friendship and the importance of family. Over the years, Jim developed a very close group of friends and has maintained those same friendships for his entire life. Within that group of friends was the most important one of all, Jim’s high school sweetheart Diane, who he now calls his loving wife of over 20 years.
Jim and Diane spent the early years of their marriage in the Mayfair section of Philadelphia. They knew it would be a perfect place to start their life together because they would be close to their family and friends. In 1995, they welcomed their beautiful daughter Mackenzie into the world and just three years later were blessed with another wonderful child, their son Conner.
Jim and Diane later relocated their family to Huntingdon Valley, Pa. It was there that they decided to add a final member to their family, their dog Smokey. With their family complete, Jim, Diane, Mackenzie & Conner have been the happy, fun loving people that I adore and am so proud to call my family.
On April 7, 2014 we received the unfortunate news that Uncle Jim had been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. Although this news has been devastating and very difficult to comprehend we are hopeful and know that Uncle Jim, being the strong, hardworking man that he is, can fight this disease with everything he’s got. His fantastic outlook on life and overall positive attitude will be the guiding force to his recovery.
The fight against cancer goes on. Everyone reading this can say they have a friend or relative who has battled this terrible illness. Often times we feel so helpless watching as a family struggles with the mental, physical and financial difficulties that go along with this process. We have set up this website to combat those difficulties and with your help I am confident that we can reach our goal. Please help support Uncle Jim and his family with your kind words, thoughts and generous donations which will help aid them in the cost of medical bills, hospital visits, etc. Your donations are so greatly appreciated and mean the world to us. We love you Uncle Jim!
