EVENT: 2016 Boston Marathon
Apparently, once wasn’t enough. I tried to stay away—I really did! But the spirit and beauty of this event is in my blood and I had to again challenge myself physically and mentally to take on the 26.2 miles from Hopkinton to Boston. This coming April 18, 2016, I will once again be running the Boston Marathon with Team John Hancock in support of the Ron Burton Training Village and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston.
The support and encouragement I received from everyone in 2014 was overwhelming and humbling. Donations came from so many people: from lifelong friends and family, to high-school classmates I hadn’t seen in decades, to runners I had met that very morning who were working toward the same goal as I was—to run and finish the historic Boston Marathon. It truly illustrates the kindness and generosity of the human spirit.
I again turn to you to help me in this endeavor! I am again raising money to support two incredible charities that have had long-standing relationships with John Hancock: The Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston and the Ron Burton Training Village. Both organizations bring hope and opportunity to Boston’s youth, and you can read more about each of these charities below. Your dollars go directly to the charities and support brighter futures.
Every penny counts and is so appreciated!

Team John Hancock 2016
Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston (BGCB) and Ron Burton Training Village (RBTV) are thrilled to partner with our inspired 2016 Boston Marathon team of John Hancock employees to raise funds to provide hope and opportunity for youth in the greater Boston area. To streamline our donation process this year, all gifts will be directed to Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston (BGCB) and then divided equally between BGCB and RBTV.
Boys & Girls Club of Boston (BGCB)
Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston (BGCB) provides nearly 16,000 young people in our community with a safe place to go after school where caring adult role models deliver fun and enriching programs. Activities are strategically developed to help youth succeed academically, live healthy lifestyles, build character and practice good citizenship. While BGCB invests an average of $2,800 per member, critical financial support from our partners helps keeps the cost of membership affordable for the children we serve, many of whom come from low-income families and single-parent households. At only $25 per school year for children ages 6-12 and just $5 for teens, members get the strong start they need for a great future.

Ron Burton Training Village (RBTV)
The mission of the Ron Burton Training Village is to enrich the lives of challenged youth in the areas of dynamic character and leadership development, physical fitness, social and educational advancement, and spiritual growth. Over the past thirty years, the Ron Burton Training Village has served more than 4,000 young men and women in their spiritual, physical and educational growth. The year-round development of each child, further underscored by the 5-week summer experience, focuses on four key areas: academic excellence, character and leadership development, sports and fitness, and spiritual growth. Many applicants come from difficult, and troubled environments, they face challenges that may impact their decision-making skills and ability to successfully achieve their goals.
