THE STORY:

The Ron Burton Training Village and the Boys and Girls Club are nonprofit organizations that are focused on benefiting and enriching the lives of children. The Boys and Girls club never turns away children due to financial hardship and for parents that are in need of child care and unable to afford that service, this is an amazing program. Both programs have a focus on physical fitness and I truly believe it is one of the most healthy and crucial paths to steer a child. In a world becoming increasing interconnected the playing field has become that much bigger. Giving a child access to a healthy outlet gives them confidence and assurance. I believe both these programs do just that. These programs resonate with my own story. Being first generation college student, I understood the loans I would be taking on going to a private university. I graduated with a bachelor’s of science degree in international government from Suffolk University in May of 2015. Although the financial cost was high I chose SU for 2 reasons. Reason number one was the MBTA. The MBTA meant I could get myself back and forth to home which meant I could be there for my nephew in the event he needed me. Reason number two was SU's graduate law program and the small classes. The point of my back story is to emphasize that with drive, diligence, and passion you can do anything you set your mind too. Post undergrad degree I have had a few life changing events that required a lot of faith and strength. This year at 24 I assumed full custody of my nephew who is now 9. To bring this story in a full circle your donation means some child just like my nephew has access to a healthy environment geared towards giving him or her finding the tools to make a life for themselves. Please donate so that I may run the Boston Marathon and show my family that you can do anything you set your mind too
