EVENT: Assenmacher 100
EVENT DATE: Aug 21, 2016
FRIENDS: you can still help me, help those less fortunate.
Last year was a year with Peaks and Valleys, much like the hills on the ODRAM (one day ride across Michigan) Last April if you were to ask me if I was going to ride 147 mile across the state in 1 day I would have thought it crazy and close to impossible. at least for me. I bought a bike and joined HOPE WATER PROJECT. Meeting this group of people changed my life in such a positive way I cannot explain.
Riding has become more than just a form of exercise. It is my time where I reflect, give thanks. I reflect & give thanks for the wonderful life I've been given, the family, friends and opportunities that have been provided.
The reason I feel so fortunate is the foundation my parents set for me and continues today. Losing both of them within 3 months last year was devastating! Last year I rode with a purpose! I rode as a tribute to my parents and I continue to do so. This year I continue to ride honoring my parents and the blessing they provided, but there is another reason I’m riding. Last year one of our teammates was called home to be with her Lord at the beginning of our ride last year. Susan Cummings was senselessly taken away from us by a hit and run driver. I’m riding this year to finish the ride she never made and to make awareness that cyclist and cars can share the road.
I am also asking you to support and encourage me as I take on this task of doing the ODRAM on 8/13 and then the following week 8/21 doing the Assenmacher 100 in order to raise funds to support Hope Water Projects current mission to dig wells for the Pokot people in Kenya. $24.00 will provide water to one person for a lifetime, The wells do so much more then provide water; it helps build communities, homes, schools, churches.
Please consider helping me, help those less fortunate.
Thanks for your support and encouragement!
