BENEFITING: Hope Water Project
ORGANIZER: Hope Water Project
EVENT: Assenmacher 100
EVENT DATE: Aug 21, 2016
I feel incredibly blessed to be living in Detroit and looking at the beautiful Detroit River flowing outside our windows. I recently spent a week sailing on Lake Huron with water as far as we could see. It is easy to take this abundance of water for granted.
However, I know that there is a group of people half way around the world that our church has become very close to. They live in Northwestern Kenya and are called the Pokot tribe and are led by Julius Murgor.
Before the Hope Water Project team stepped in, they had to walk for miles to get to contaminated water, fill containers, and then carry it back to their families. This dirty water was all they had access to and they became sick and many died due to diseases.
The great news is that through your donations, Hope Water Project has drilled over 100 wells to bring fresh water to these remote areas.
Our goal is to provide 1,000 new water wells for the Pokot tribe.
For this reason, I am coming to you to ask for your support by sponsoring me on a 100 mile bike ride I will do on August 21st to raise money for Hope Water Project.
It is difficult for me to ask you for a donation, because I know there are many different requests that are made of all of us. But I also feel that water is something that is all around us, and for the Pokot, it simply is not there without this extra help.
I would really appreciate your support to help me reach my goal to raise $1,000.
Thank you for your prayers and support!
