Randy and I met in the fall of 2011 at the beginning of his junior year. As we began the process of getting him ready to apply for colleges and take his first AP classes, I was inspired by his dedication and steadfast commitment in wanting to excel in every facet of his life. From morning to night, he was either in a classroom, library, or on the track field pushing himself to limits he himself did not think he was capable of achieving.
With the help of his family, school and the iMentor staff, he will be part of the first graduating class in 2013. His first college acceptances are arriving and we are proud to say that he will be looking to complete a degree in engineering by 2017.
In order for Randy and thousands of other students to continue to achieve their dream, the process starts with you. We need your help as your donations support thousands of mentee-mentor pairs in helping students cross the finish line.
Click the Donate button (at right) to make a donation, or go one step further and help us fundraise and select Create Your Fundraiser. You’ll get your own fundraising page where you can share your amazing mentoring efforts with your family, friends, and other networks and encourage them to donate.
Remember: all mentors and mentees from the winning team will receive a prize!
All of us at iMentor thank you for your support.
iMentor builds mentoring relationships that empower students in low-income communities to graduate high school, succeed in college, and achieve their ambitions.
Students and mentors work one-on-one through iMentor’s online and in-person curriculum to navigate the college application process and build critical skills linked to college success. In New York City, iMentor partners with public schools to ensure every student in the school receives a mentor.
Since 1999, iMentor has connected 11,000 students in New York City with mentors, and will match more than 2,400 mentor-mentee pairs this year. iMentor also provides its curriculum, technology, and best practices to nonprofits nationwide to help them run effective mentoring programs in the iMentor model.
