Welcome to my 2013 Online Donor Drive page!
As many of you know, I am a mentor to a New York City high school student through iMentor. iMentor provides students in low-income communities with mentors who are dedicated to helping them succeed in college and beyond.
I’ve had the great opportunity to be matched with Jasmine for the past 5 months. Jasmine is a senior at KIPP NYC who loves Poetry, Art and Chinese Food. It’s has been amazing getting to know Jasmine and I am proud to have this opportunity to let you into my world as a mentor. This year, Jasmine and I have been working on the college application process, various essays and getting her prepared for the challenges ahead as a college student. Jasmine has ongoing passion and drive to succeed and make her parents and sister proud. She may have moved a few times during critical years, but has persevered and continues to achieve her goals through various headwinds. I am lucky to have such a caring and thoughtful mentee and seeing her work hard and persevere continues to inspire me to continue my work as a mentor.
Help iMentor by supporting my page today. Every contribution will help support more mentor-mentee pairs like Jasmine and me.
About iMentor’s Online Donor Drive
The iMentor Online Donor Drive team is a dedicated group of mentors and supporters who join forces to fundraise for iMentor. The proceeds of this annual campaign help fund thousands of mentoring relationships that are empowering students in low-income communities to graduate high school, succeed in college, and achieve their ambitions.
It costs $1,000 a year to support a pair and ensure they have access to quality programming and resources. So whether you contribute $10 or $1,000, your involvement makes you part of a network of individuals who are making a lasting investment in the life of a high school student.
iMentor builds mentoring relationships that empower students in low-income communities to graduate high school, succeed in college, and achieve their ambitions.
Students and mentors work one-on-one through iMentor’s online and in-person curriculum to navigate the college application process and build critical skills linked to college success. In New York City, iMentor partners with public schools to ensure every student in the school receives a mentor.
Since 1999, iMentor has connected 11,000 students in New York City with mentors, and will match more than 2,400 mentor-mentee pairs this year. iMentor also provides its curriculum, technology, and best practices to nonprofits nationwide to help them run effective mentoring programs in the iMentor model.
