EVENT: ASICS LA Marathon 2013
EVENT DATE: Mar 17, 2013
Here's how it's going to work. From now until March 17th, 2013, I am going to run a lot and you are going to donate money to Kitten Rescue to help them save more homeless and neglected animals in Los Angeles and the surrounding areas. These donations will also make me run harder and faster. On March 17th, 2013, I'm going to run 13.1 miles with my charity relay partner and co-worker, Srna. Then I'm going to stop running for a couple weeks to recover.
If you're asking yourself why Kitten Rescue or I am worthy of your donation, it's because we have a good track records and impressive resumés. Kitten Rescue has saved thousands and thousands of animals in Los Angeles since 1997. They are very experienced and good at what they do. I have been a foster mom with Kitten Rescue since 2008 and have been making a good effort to save really cute cats (and a couple not so cute ones) one litter box scooping at a time. In 2012, I ran the full LA marathon (that's 26.2 miles, folks) and raised almost $1200 for Kitten Rescue so I've done this before and I'm a for sure thing. So don't worry, the money you donate will go towards a good cause for animals and you can be rest assured that I'm going to cross the finish line alive and you won't have to donate guilt money to Kitten Rescue because I died during the race...although feel free to donate guilt money for any injuries I sustain before, during, or after the race. :)
Wait, what? I'm only running the half marathon this year and not the full marathon? Yes, because I'm trying to finish my Ph.D. at USC, AND rescue cats, AND sit on the planning committee for Kitten Rescue's marathon team, AND be awesome all at the same time. But trust me, you won't regret donating the same amount to Kitten Rescue as you did last year, because after all, your donation is still tax-deductible.
Feel free to check on my current training progress or read about my last year's experience here: http://runforthecats.blogspot.com/
Think you can run farther/faster than me and raise more money than me? Then feel free to join Team Kitten Rescue and show me up. Check our marathon page out to see what kinds of perks you can get for raising more money than me : http://www.kittenrescue.org/LAMarathon.html
P.S.-If someone donates $5000 to my fundraising page, I'll Gangnam style dance the 13.1 miles and record it for you, but better donate it sooner rather than later so I can properly train for endurance Gangnam style dancing.
