LAFEST is the leading soccer event of its kind, bringing together soccer players, their families, fans and aficionados of the game from the film, television, music, publishing, fashion and new media worlds. The event features a 5v5 entertainment industry soccer tournament with dozens of teams battling for first place while supporting two great causes: Grassroot Soccer and the LA Galaxy Foundation.
Grassroot Soccer: Grassroot Soccer (GRS) is a non-profit organization founded in 2002 that uses the power of soccer to educate, inspire, and empower young people to live healthy lives. Founded by four professional soccer players, Grassroot Soccer is mobilizing the most vulnerable population of youth, ages 12-19, to adopt healthy lifestyles equipping young people with the knowledge, skills and support they need to avoid risk, particularly related to sexual health and HIV/AIDS. GRS has a global reach to more than 30 countries, with flagship sites in South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Los Angeles Galaxy Foundation: The Los Angeles Galaxy Foundation (LAGF), the non-profit arm of the LA Galaxy, is dedicated to assisting the community in which the team lives, works, and plays. LA Galaxy players, coaches, alumni and staff spend countless hours giving back to the community at local schools, hospitals, fields, and events. The LAGF continually strives to aid organizations that meet its mission of supporting and creating education, health, and soccer-related activities and programs for youth in the greater Los Angeles area.
