THE STORY:
Let All the Children Play wrote -
For the second consecutive year, Let All The Children Play (LATCP) will field a team to compete in the Long Island Marathon: Festival Races, as one of the event’s official charities. LATCP aims to have a team of forty or more runners competing in the weekend’s events and raising $30,000 or more of crucial funding that will go towards jump-starting LATCP’s inclusive play programs. This year’s race weekend will be an extremely special one for the team and the organization, as LATCP will be officially opening its 2-acre universally accessible playground that same weekend! Furthermore, the playground sits just a few hundred feet away from the race finish line in Eisenhower Park!
As state budgets are cut due to the weakening economy, disabled children and their families are suffering. Therefore, LATCP’s ability to carry out its mission and provide these vital services to the community has become all the more significant.
For the members of team LATCP, who are all runners and athletes, sports and play has brought us tremendous opportunities in life, shaped our characters, and allowed us to form life-long friendships. As a result, we are tremendously passionate about working tirelessly to ensure that ALL children have these very same experiences and opportunities through access to sport and play!
