My name is Matt Laxer. I am 27 years old, a Project Engineer for AmerisourceBergen, and was diagnosed with Stage IIB Nonseminoa Testicular Cancer on August 3, 2015 and am currently in remission. I decided to create a Crowdrise account where every dollar raised in my honor will be donated to the Sean Kimerling Testicular Cancer Foundation. Testicular cancer is the leading cancer in men ages 15 - 35 yet can strike at any age and is rarely talked about. When dectected early - it has a survival rate of approximately 95%. Since my RPLND surgery on January 13, 2016 with Dr. Sheinfeld at MSKCC, one of my many goals is to become an active member of the Testicular Cancer Awareness Foundation and with your assistance, help raise money for this foundation as well as numerous other Testicular Cancer foundations and the Keep Pounding foundation of my Carolina Panthers. Way too many people are affected by this horrible, unexplainable disease and I think the best way to inspire hope to others who may be affected by this disease or any other disease in the future is to learn about my experiences and know what it takes to beat it. Life is a precious gift and having a positive attitude will get you through each and every day.
