EVENT: Welcome to Long Beach!
EVENT DATE: Oct 07, 2012
I am "running" the 5K at the Long Beach Marathon for a young boy that I was lucky enough to meet when I first started working for the Memorial Medical Center Foundation. He instantly stole my heart with his beautiful smile and loving energy. I am raising money for him and many other children like him.
Here is his story:
Jonathan was only 2-years-old when he was diagnosed with both Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) and Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). This once happy and busy little boy would have to undergo extensive chemotherapy treatment to cure both cancers. He spent many nights at the Jonathan Jaques Children’s Cancer Center at Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach where his family would have scares due to the side effects of his treatment. His blood pressure would sky rocket, he would get terrible mouth sores and had very little energy. Thanks to the persistent medical staff, Jonathan is currently in remission and enduring lighter chemo treatments. His family takes his treatment one day at a time, and is extremely happy to see him as a smiling little boy who loves to play with trains, taxis and anything mobile.
Your support on the Team Long Beach Lifesavers is helping thousands of patients like Jonathan, receive the best pediatric care. Thank you for your support.
Please consider donating to this wonderful place that has and will continue to care for everyone in our community.
