BENEFITING: Louisiana SPCA
EVENT DATE: Apr 19, 2014
As most of you know, I do not run. Ever. Well maybe if a snake was chasing me...Anyhoo, me who does not run (ever), has signed up for a 10k in April. I am going to attempt to run to support the The Louisiana SPCA (so apparently snakes and cute puppies will motivate me to run). If you want to be a part of this momentous occasion, you can make a donation to support my efforts and cheer me on.
Learn more about the LA/SPCA...
The Louisiana Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (LA/SPCA) was chartered in 1888. It is the oldest and most comprehensive animal welfare organization in Louisiana and one of the oldest in the United States, providing care and basic medical services for 20,000+ homeless and companion animals each year. The mission of the LA/SPCA is to advocate for and protect the animal community through high quality service, compassion, strong leadership and innovative programs.
The LA/SPCA is an independent 501 (c)3 non-profit and is not a part of any other SPCA or humane society, including the ASPCA or HSUS. The LA/SPCA operates and raises all of its funds independently. We do not receive funding on a regular basis from national organizations.
We also contract with the City of New Orleans to provide the parish’s animal control function. Although headquartered in New Orleans, many of our services, including advocacy, legislative work, humane education, and cruelty investigations, are conducted throughout Louisiana.
