BENEFITING: Lupus Foundation of New England, Inc.
ORGANIZER: Lupus Foundation of New England, Inc.
EVENT: 2012 Boston Marathon
THE STORY:
Lupus strikes men and women of all ages, 90 percent of individuals diagnosed with the disease are women: our mothers, sisters and dear friends.
Lupus brings a lot of changes in ones life. A person with Lupus commonly experiences joint pain, extreme fatigue, kidney problems and skin rashes. Patients not only experience the physical pain but also the mental and emotional toll that it takes as they deal with stress and depression. Moreover the disease can progress further and affect any of the other major organs such as the heart, liver and lung. Thus, the complications can be life-threatening.
Current medications only alleviate the symptoms. The Lupus Foundation of New England raises awareness and funds scientific research with the ultimate goal of finding a cure. I am doing my part to raise money for them by being part of Team Lupus running the Boston Marathon on April 16th, 2012.
Let’s work toward making the lives of lupus patients better. Please help find a true cure.
