EVENT: 2013 Boston Marathon
Well, this is IT…I am running the Boston Marathon 2013!!!
It’s with great honor to share with you that I will be running as a member of the Lupus Foundation of New England team. Along with accomplishing a personal goal, I pledged to raise funds and awareness to a disease that affects about 1.5 million Americans.
Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease which can damage various systems within the body (skin, joints, and/or organs). With lupus, the body's immune system cannot differentiate between foreign invaders (such as harmful bacteria and viruses) and healthy tissue and organs; the immune system creates antibodies which attack and destroy healthy tissue. These antibodies cause inflammation, pain, and damage throughout the body. People with lupus have sporadic flare-ups of the disease--these flare-ups can last from weeks to years. There is no cure, and treatment focuses upon pain management and damage mitigation.
Together, we can make a difference, fund scientific research that will lead to better treatments and ultimately find a cure.
Please make a donation to support my fundraising efforts to help advance the Lupus Foundation of New England’s mission.
