Welcome to my 2013 Online Donor Drive page!
As many of you know, I am a mentor to a New York City high school student through iMentor. iMentor provides students in low-income communities with mentors who are dedicated to helping them succeed in high school, college and beyond.
I’ve had the great opportunity to be matched with Jeanacee for the past 6 months. Jeanacee is a freshman at Lyons who loves graffiti, going to the park and her little Yorkie, Tyler. It’s has been amazing getting to know her and I am proud to have this opportunity to let you into my world as a mentor.
Jeanacee and I have built our relationship from the ground up, starting with brainstorming ways to help her pass math. I suggested a trendy backpack so she wouldn’t forget her homework at home, along with seeking help from the after-school tutors. We’ve also been gaining each other’s trust and have come very far since our first meeting. Jeanacee continues to confide in me and she’s been working very hard to succeed in her difficult classes. I feel as though I have learned from her just as much as she learns from me. I am very thankful to have met her and am excited to continue our relationship for the next 4 years and beyond.
Please help iMentor by supporting my page today. Every contribution will help support more mentor-mentee pairs like Jeanacee and me.
About iMentor’s Online Donor Drive
The iMentor Online Donor Drive team is a dedicated group of mentors and supporters who join forces to fundraise for iMentor. The proceeds of this annual campaign help fund thousands of mentoring relationships that are empowering students in low-income communities to graduate high school, succeed in college, and achieve their ambitions.
It costs $1,000 a year to support a pair and ensure they have access to quality programming and resources. So whether you contribute $10 or $1,000, your involvement makes you part of a network of individuals who are making a lasting investment in the life of a high school student.
iMentor builds mentoring relationships that empower students in low-income communities to graduate high school, succeed in college, and achieve their ambitions.
Students and mentors work one-on-one through iMentor’s online and in-person curriculum to navigate the college application process and build critical skills linked to college success. In New York City, iMentor partners with public schools to ensure every student in the school receives a mentor.
Since 1999, iMentor has connected 11,000 students in New York City with mentors, and will match more than 2,400 mentor-mentee pairs this year. iMentor also provides its curriculum, technology, and best practices to nonprofits nationwide to help them run effective mentoring programs in the iMentor model.
