Welcome to Team Mackenzie for TM! On September 26, 2014, Mackenzie was diagnosed with Transverse Myelitis (TM), a rare neurological disorder caused by inflammation in the spinal cord. Within 24 hours of her diagnosis, Mackenzie had lost her ability to walk and was confined to a wheelchair. After months and months of aggressive physical therapy, we are blessed to be able to say that Mackenzie is one of the lucky ones and has made a full recovery. Many others are not so lucky and continue to struggle for their recovery and people continue to be diagnosed every day.
The TMA was an invaluable resource to us during what felt like the darkest days of our life. We found the TMA and we knew we were not alone. Our family has been blessed with Mackenzie's recovery and it is our goal to continue to create awareness so that others that have to travel this path after us will know that they are not alone either.
Please join us on September 20th for the Walk-Run-N-Roll for TMA. All proceeds will benefit TMA's research and service programs for those battling TM, NMO, ON, and ADEM. If you are unable to join us, please consider making a donation to this worthy cause.
