I first heard of the MAGIC Foundation after being paired with Leonora through an organization called "Who Do You Run For?" IR4 pairs runners with people with special needs and in February of this year, I was matched with this amazing little girl! Leonora was born with a rare condition called "Panhypopituitarism" or "PHP". Very simply put, her pituitary gland does not function properly which causes it not to produce the hormones that it should. (ie - Growth, Thyroid, Cortisol, etc) Because this condition is so rare, it is that much more important for Leonora's family to stay up to date on the latest research and information because they cannot assume all doctors will be familiar with it. Their knowledge of Leonora's condition could literally mean the difference between life and death for her. That is where the MAGIC Foundation comes in! They provide support and information to parents of children with growth disorders such as PHP. So when Leonora's mom asked me if I would be willing to join the MAGIC Foundation team to help raise money and awareness for them to continue to help support families such as theirs, of course I said YES! On January 9, 2016, I will be running the Disney World Half Marathon as a member of Team MAGIC in honor of Leonora! Any donations towards my fundraiser would be greatly appreciated! #IR4Leonora #GrowingLeonora #TeamMagic
Thank you for your support!!

The MAGIC Foundation has a team of runners participating in several events during the Walt Disney World marathon weekend. We have participants in the 5K, 10K and half marathon all running/walking to raise awareness and funds for The MAGIC Foundation. These funds will be used to help families in need attend our annual convention. During the convention families will attend educational segments where they will hear up-to-date information on their child's specific growth disorder, as well as attend social gatherings with their families. The convention is an amazing weekend for the families and a great place for our MAGIC kids to realize they are not alone living with their disorder! A huge thank you to all our runners and donors because without you the MAGIC Foundation would not be able to continue its important mission. Children have a short time to grow and a lifetime to live with the results! Our commitment is to reduce the emotional and physical trauma caused by growth disorders, resulting in healthier, happier children and, consequently, adults.
