Welcome to our 2013 Online Donor Drive page!
As many of you know, Matt and I are mentors to New York City high school students through iMentor. iMentor provides students in low-income communities with mentors who are dedicated to helping them succeed in college and beyond.
We’ve had the great opportunity to be matched with Chris (with Matt) and Luis (with me) for the past 4 months. Both Chris and Luis are freshman at Manhattan Bridges High School. They both really enjoy sports, video games, and spending time with their friends. It’s been an amazing experience getting to know them and we are proud to have this opportunity to let you into our world as mentors. This year, we are working with Chris and Luis to help them improve their study skills as well as their focus on academics. After just 4 months, Matt and I have witnessed an incredible change not only in their academic progress and grades, but also through their increased understanding of the importance academics plays in being successful. Both our mentees are freshman in high school, and have yet to decide on specific career paths. They have both however, shown a strong interest in pursuing higher levels of education. Matt and I look forward to helping them through this journey over the coming months and years and couldn’t be more excited to work with them in achieving their goal of getting into and graduating from college.
Please help iMentor by supporting our page! Every contribution will help support more mentor-mentee pairs like Chris and Matt and Luis and myself.
About iMentor’s Online Donor Drive
The iMentor Online Donor Drive team is a dedicated group of mentors and supporters who join forces to fundraise for iMentor. The proceeds of this annual campaign help fund thousands of mentoring relationships that are empowering students in low-income communities to graduate high school, succeed in college, and achieve their ambitions.
It costs $1,000 a year to support a pair and ensure they have access to quality programming and resources. Whether you contribute $10 or $1,000, your involvement makes you part of a network of individuals who are making a lasting investment in the life of a high school student.
iMentor builds mentoring relationships that empower students in low-income communities to graduate high school, succeed in college, and achieve their ambitions.
Students and mentors work one-on-one through iMentor’s online and in-person curriculum to navigate the college application process and build critical skills linked to college success. In New York City, iMentor partners with public schools to ensure every student in the school receives a mentor.
Since 1999, iMentor has connected 11,000 students in New York City with mentors, and will match more than 2,400 mentor-mentee pairs this year. iMentor also provides its curriculum, technology, and best practices to nonprofits nationwide to help them run effective mentoring programs in the iMentor model.
