BENEFITING: American Foundation for Suicide Prevention
EVENT: Pittsburgh Marathon 2016
EVENT DATE: May 01, 2016
On May 6, 2003, we lost our father, husband and best friend, Martin A. Petrick to suicide. Understanding why he committed suicide is something our family still struggles with today, sometimes making moving forward seem impossible.
The decision to run for the Pittsburgh Marathon came to us in 2015, when the marathon fell near the anniversary of our father's death. This was our first half-marathon and marathon (for the one brother who signed up for the wrong race). We were determined to finish running; to honor our father and prove our strength to move forward from our tragic loss. Team M.A.P. was born.
This year Team M.A.P. will once again participate in the Pittsburgh Marathon, but with a little more experience. We will be running in honor of our father and also to raise money for the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention. Please help us reach our goal.
The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is the leader in the fight against suicide. They fund research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy, and support survivors of suicide loss. To learn more, please visit www.afsp.org.
