Until recently, there was very little known about Alzheimer's Disease. It is like efforts by the Alzheimer's Association and participants like us that awareness has been spread and research has been supported. As you may or may not know, our family has been affected by Alzheimer's Disease in all aspects of our lives. We have seen the seriousness of this disease firsthand. Grace and her family lost their grandmother to Alzheimer's in 2011, and we are currently supporting Margie, Grace's mother, and aunt, Nancy, in their battle with early-onset Alzheimer's. We have seen and felt how it has impacted our families. In running the Boston Marathon this April, we hope to speak up and fight for those of our loved ones and others who cannot speak for themselves.

As part of the Alzheimer's Association's "Run to End Alzheimer's - Boston 2014" team, I will be participating in the 118th Boston Marathon on April 21, 2014 and raising money for individuals and families affected by Alzheimer’s disease. Proceeds go directly to improve the lives of those affected by Alzheimer's, by providing enhanced care and support for all affected, and through the advancement of research.

I hope you will support us and the Alzheimer's Association, as we run the 26.2 miles to the finish line. Along the way, we plan to participate in a number of local races as part of our journey to completing the Boston Marathon. We hope to keep our supporters involved in our efforts throughout the next few months, as well as long after the marathon.
