I am humbled and honored to participate in the 2013 Boston Marathon as a member of the Mass General Marathon Team Fighting Kids' Cancer ... One Step at a Time. Please consider showing your support for myself and my team.
Our team is fundraising to fight children's cancer and my story is quite simple - I am participating in honor of Andrew Bronk, my son. Andrew is an active and engaging teenager who will turn 16 in June 2013. He balances his academic efforts with ice hockey and lacrosse - for all intents and purposes, he is a happy and healthy young man.
What most don't know is my son has a brain tumor. He has undergone two operations in the past three years and we are fortunate that we have not seen any changes in the tumor since his last surgery in January 2011. I am overwhelmingly proud of his strength and courage - running 26.2 miles is nothing compared to what he has endured.
Through your support, we will be helping other families avoid and/or endure similar situations.
Please help me reach my goals and make this journey in Boston a success.
The Mass General Marathon Team Fighting Kids' Cancer ... One Step at a Time was established in 1998 and has raised nearly $8 million in support of the Division of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology at MassGeneral Hospital for Children. Thanks to the generous support of John Hancock Financial and other partners, we will continue to run until we find a cure … One Step at a Time.
