EVENT: 2013 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 15, 2013
On April 15, 2013 I will be embarking on one of the biggest (and scariest) ventures of my life, running 26.2 miles in the historic Boston Marathon. I have never done anything like this in my life and am so excited for this journey. I was motivated to join the Mass General Marathon team not only because I am amazed at the wonderful care that is given by the people I encounter there but also because the team is raising money for pediatric cancer. I’m running to better my own health and to help better the lives of children and their families who are affected by cancer. One in 300 boys and one in 333 girls will develop cancer before their 20th birthday. I’m running so that the over 12,000 children diagnosed with cancer in 2012 can live to see their next birthday, so that there can be more candles on their birthday cake and less hospital bill; so that more little girls can have ponytails. I hope that you will support me in this challenge!!!
The Mass General Marathon Team Fighting Kids' Cancer ... One Step at a Time was established in 1998 and has raised nearly $8 million in support of the Division of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology at MassGeneral Hospital for Children. Thanks to the generous support of John Hancock Financial and other partners, we will continue to run until we find a cure … One Step at a Time.
