THE STORY:

So this is it.

I have finally decided that THIS is the year:  On April 15, 2013 I am going to be running the Boston Marathon.

After many years of spectating on the sidelines, this April I will be one of the 20,000+ runners making the 26.2 mile stretch to Boylston Street.

Now, let's face it, I was NEVER much of an athlete.  This is the girl they stuck in right field who STILL managed to take a pop fly ball to the face, spending the night in the ED with a concussion.  BUT, over the past 3 years I have really started to enjoy running.  It has become part of my daily routine and somewhat therapeutic!  I don't run for time or competition (Lord knows I am not a qualifying runner), I just run because I can.  Boston is an amazing city and I have been incredibly privileged to be able to see most of it on foot!

So this year, as I turn 26 in January, I am celebrating by running 26 miles.  26 at 26, one mile for each year of life.

And what better cause to support than Mass General's Marathon Team, where all funds benefit children with cancer and ongoing research to find a cure for pediatric cancer.  My goal for this race is $5,000 and I know that with the help of my amazing friends and family this is truly possible.  No donation is too small!

I cannot thank you enough for visiting my page and taking the time to hear a little bit about my story.  This is going to be the journey of a lifetime and I am so blessed to be doing it alongside of a fantastic team.  Fighting Kids' Cancer ... One Step at a Time

Love,

Jamie

The Mass General Marathon Team Fighting Kids' Cancer ... One Step at a Time was established in 1998 and has raised nearly $8 million in support of the Division of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology at MassGeneral Hospital for Children. Thanks to the generous support of John Hancock Financial and other partners, we will continue to run until we find a cure … One Step at a Time.
