BENEFITING: Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress
ORGANIZER: Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress
EVENT: 2013 Boston Marathon
This April, I am going to hit the ground running to raise funds and awareness for the Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress (MDSC).
I recently began work at the Boston Ballet and am currently managing the Adaptive Dance program, which provides dance education to students with Down syndrome ranging from 2 to 26 years old.
I have been deeply affected by the individuals involved; both by the talent and creativity of the students and the passion and dedication of their families. If you have a moment to watch this video featuring one of the Adaptive students, it is easy to understand why: http://www.bostonballet.org/explorebb/videos/faye-jones.html.
Through this program, I've had the opportunity to work with the MDSC and have been consistently impressed by the depth and breadth of the services they provide to ensure that individuals with Down syndrome are valued, included, and given the opportunities to pursue fulfilling lives.
For this reason, I have committed to raise $5,000 for the MDSC before marathon day - April 15th - for the kids that I have been so inspired by.
I might not run fast - but I will run far! I hope that you will support the MDSC with me on the way.
