BENEFITING: Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress
ORGANIZER: Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress
EVENT: 2013 Boston Marathon
Woo Hoo! The calendar says it's the third day of Spring. The view outside my says a little different. Still lots of snow and ice on the ground. It IS sunny however, and the Cardinals here are singing like crazy. Still waiting to see a Robin. Then I will know Spring has really arrived.
Now down to business. The Marathon is fast approaching and I am ready for it, mostly. I am soo close to my $5,000 commitment for MDSC. I'm only $400 shy. There is still time to donate. So if you've been waiting and wanting to donate, but thought it might be too late, it's not. I would be so grateful and happy if you could donate today. It will make a huge difference to lots and lots of people.
My New Years Resolution was to raise funds for Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress www.mdsc.org. I'm still plugging away. In turn for raising funds for MDSC, they will put together programs, conferences, seminars, new parent visits, resources and support for families who are lucky and blessed enough to have someone with Ds in their lives. And I also get to run (I use that term loosely) in the Boston Marathon. Running the Boston Marathon has been a dream of mine forever, it seems. This is one resolution I will NOT break.
Why am I doing this? I think just about everyone reading this knows my daughter Eve. She is 7 and has Ds. And while were living in Colorado when she was born and then lived in Las Vegas, we were part of organizations like MDSC. They were so helpful to us after Eve was born. We didn't have a pre-natal diagnosis. The services they provided us and the support and networking proved to be invaluable to us. And the families we met and the friends we made along the way have also been a blessing. We have only been back in the area a fairly short time and haven't relied on MDSC for too many things, yet. But I want to help MDSC grow and be an invaluable resource to us and other families who want nothing but the best for their child.
So, I'm doing it for your daughter, son, sister, brother, niece, nephew, cousin, uncle, aunt...
I'm doing it because I'm ridiculously proud of my daughter. And I'm doing it because I'm a little crazy.
My final fundraising goal is $5,000. I send a HUGE thank you to all who have donated so far. As of this posting I am at 63% of my goal. I would LOVE to have my final goal of $5000.00 met by March 28. I picked that date because it is my birthday. Seems like a great birthday present to me. Also, I am literally losing sleep trying to come up with fundraising ideas. I would love a good night sleep. Starting my next trip around the sun with my goal met AND a good night sleep would be greatest gift! I am asking (pleading? Begging?) for your support. A donation can be made here. Or a check can be mailed to me.Make it out to MDSC and mail to 238 Carter Point Road #2 Sedgwick,ME 04676
Down syndrome is the least funded and least advocated major genetic condition by the NIH. It is also the most frequent chromosomal disorder. Please help me do my part to change that.
Eve and I thank you for your support!!
