Hi, and welcome to Team Jake. I’m Brad; Jake’s Daddy. I’d like to thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule. I will be running the Boston Marathon in 2012 to raise funds and awareness for Down Syndrome. I’ve been lucky enough to join the running team for MDSC.
As most of you already know my baby boy Jake; was born with Down Syndrome. When, we moved to Massachusetts in 2008; MDSC was our GOTO resource. We were welcomed with open arms. We were helped with Early Intervention programs, schools, doctors. We were connected to other families in our living area for support. I can’t think of a better, more important organization to raise funds for OR run 26.2 miles. But, I can’t do this alone. We need your help! Jake has been watching and teaching HIMSELF sign language since he was 2 years old. He is the biggest “Signing Time” fan you’ll ever meet. “Signing Time” is a children’s program that incorporates music with Sign Language. Jake got to meet the creator Rachael Coleman, at the Buddy Walk in 2010. He got to meet, hug and take pictures with Rachael. Jake was in the front row during her live concert after the walk. Rachael even brought Jake onstage to perform. I’ve added some pictures on the left. I’m getting verclempt just thinking about it….It was one of our happiest days as Jake’s parents. And, this was all due to the efforts of the MDSC!!!
So, please help us; Team Jake and MDSC raise funds to ensure all individuals with Down syndrome are valued, included, and given opportunities to lead meaningful lives in the community by providing information, networking opportunities, and advocacy for people with Down syndrome and their families, educators, health care professionals, and the community-at-large.
Thank you very much!!!
Love, Brad and the rest of Team Jake (Kim, Luke, Kate, and Jake)!
