I am running the NYC Marathon to raise funds for Stand Up To Cancer. Last November the world lost an incredible woman - my mother. She was the most caring, loving, and wonderful person anyone could ever know. She put her family in front of everyone and everything and completely defined the word selfless. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandsons who in turn loved her completey and still ask when they can see "Mimi" again.
My mom won her initial battle with breast cancer with grace and dignity, never once complaining or asking "why me?" She lived her life to the fullest and was teaching school up until three weeks before cancer took her away from us. She was a fighter and would be proud to know we are participating in such a great cause.
Cancer kills 1,500 Americans every day. That’s one person every minute. But we can change these staggering statistics if we stand up to cancer TOGETHER.
That’s why Team Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) is rallying supporters to raise funds for cancer research by participating in races such as the NYC Marathon. Running this race as part of SU2C will ensure continued collaboration among the best and the brightest in the cancer research community to accelerate the pace of groundbreaking research that can get new therapies to patients quickly and save lives.
