MorningStar Mission relieves the spiritual and physical hunger of the poor by providing food for the hungry, clothing for the needy, shelter for the homeless and the Gospel of Jesus Christ for all. Since 1909, MorningStar Mission has served men, women, children and entire families in Joliet and Will County, offering hope for the hurting through one-time meals and long-term recovery programs.
Our programs include a Men's 180 Club where men may find new direction, valuable tools and resources; the East Side Cafe where we serve meals to the homeless; the Treasure Chest retail store where families can be given an emergency voucher; a Ladies Luncheon that takes place four times a year with special speakers, food, fun and fellowship; a Jump on the Bus school supply program providing everything from pencils to tennis shoes to children at the start of each school year; Shop with a Sheriff helping at-risk youth have a positive experience with a local police officer, helping them afford gifts for their family during the holiday season; Holiday Food Baskets; Stars of Hope providing hundreds of families with Christmas gifts each year; New Day Drop in Center, a safe place to stay during the day with a computer enter, email, phones, and other community resources; the Counseling Center; Women and Family Recovery Center that helps them re-enter the community and take charge of their lives; and Advance Transitional Housing for people who completed a homeless shelter program but need support adjusting to permanent housing.
