ORGANIZER: Nashoba Learning Group Inc
EVENT: 2013 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 21, 2014
My name is Beth Battin and I am a lead teacher at Nashoba Learning Group. I started working at NLG in July 2011, and it truly is an impressive organization. I have the privilege of working with amazing students and families who have changed my life. I feel so lucky to have found a job where I can work alongside the most dedicated teachers who are willing to do anything and everything to help our students. The teaching philosophy at NLG is based on the idea that students should not learn how we teach, but that we should teach how they learn. Every child at our school has a learning curriculum designed to meet his or her individual needs to gain the academic, social, and daily living skills that are essential for gaining independence. I am very lucky to have the opportunity to run the marathon for Nashoba Learning Group. It will be my first marathon, and I am very excited to represent the students and my fellow NLG teachers.
In 2013 NLG will open an adult program, which will provide continuing support to graduating students as they enter adulthood. This is an expensive but crucial addition to NLG’s program and overall mission. The adult program will be a customized vocational program enabling adults with autism to be productive and engage in society. Any and all contributions will help NLG continue this important mission to provide lifelong support and development for people with autism.
Every dollar counts! Thank you on behalf of all the wonderful teachers and students at NLG!
