EVENT: 2014 GO! FOR A CAUSE
EVENT DATE: Apr 05, 2014
Hello there!!! My name is Michelle and I am a sophomore in college. In April (2014) I had planned to run my first marathon, but I grew ill and had to withdraw. Though I am no longer running the marathon, I will be collecting donations for the first time in my life.
I think cancer research is one of the most valuable organizations to put money into and thus I chose the National Children's Cancer Society.
CANCER -- The "C-word"
Cancer is ugly, hideous, and no good. It's not just a disease, but a life altering diagnosis. I am not a parent. I do not have any siblings with cancer. I do not know any stories personally, but I know cancer. Cancer runs in the family...not necessarily something you brag about, but its true. Cancer took my grandmother and cancer has taken other relatives as well.
Why the National Children's Cancer Society?? Because, no kid deserves to suffer from cancer. They should be out running, playing, eating dirt, and skinning their knees. They should be able to go to sleepovers, play sports, and live cancer-free. No child should have to endure the pain and suffering of chemotherapy. If I could play even the tiniest part in finding a cure or making life for a currently afflicted child better then I would be happy.
This is only a start. This is my first step into the fundraising world for childhood cancer. I ask that you consider the children, consider their futures, consider the pains of cancer. Not only does this money go towards valuable research, but to helping ease the stresses associated to raising a child suffering from cancer.Any amount of money is a BIG help. It is a huge move forward. My goal at the moment is $500.00, with hopes of having to RAISE that goal. If you personally can't spare the money, at least do me the service of sharing this page.
Please do help me help the "11,630 children in the United States under the age of 15 will be diagnosed with cancer in 2013" (American Cancer Society).Thank you!
