THE STORY:
"The creative arts are the measure and reflection of our civilization. They offer many children an opportunity to see life with a larger perspective...The moral values we treasure are reflected in the beauty and truth that is emotionally transmitted through the arts. The arts say something about us to future generations."
–Ann P. Kahn, Former President of The National PTA
EMIA's summer intensive provides young dancers the opportunity to expand their sense of community, broaden their perspective on the world they live in and develop their own sense of how to be involved in that world. They do this through the art of dance.
EMIA's team is composed of highly regarded professionals who collaborate with students to cultivate their own excellence. This dedicated team of teachers and mentors educate and support the students in a 2 to 4 week program that provides classes in many different genres of dance as well as wellness and nutrition, business of dance, college preparation and body conditioning. Students are further stimulated by artist talks, professional performances, live music, opportunities to choreograph and more.
Most of EMIA students attend with scholarship funds. Competition for arts funding continues to rise, but I believe maintaining a program like this is essential so that dance remains accessible to everyone. I encourage you to help us continue providing opportunities for these youngsters to take wings.
