BENEFITING: Neurofibromatosis Incorporated Northeast
ORGANIZER: Neurofibromatosis Incorporated Northeast
EVENT: 2013 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 15, 2013
Here's the scoop....I will be running the 2013 Boston Marathon as part of Team Neurofibromatosis Northeast (we'll just call it Team NF Northeast, for short!). I have made the commitment to raise $5000 for NF Northeast - yeah, $5000, it's a lot! But that's where YOU come in. Please consider donating to this cause. Every donation goes to NF, and helps spread the word about this disease. Feel free to donate via credit card here on Crowdrise, or if you feel more comfortable writing a check, make it payable to "Neurofibromatosis Northeast" and email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I can give you my address to send a donation.
Did you know...? NF affects 3 TIMES as many people as muscular dystrophy and cystic fibrosis combined, yet many people have never even heard of it.
Neurofibromatosis (pronounced neuro-fibroma-tosis) is a genetic disorder that can cause tumors to form on the nerves anywhere in or on the body at any time. NF is associated with disfigurement, learning disabilities, deafness, vision impairment, epilepsy and cancer. At this time, there is no effective treatment or cure for NF.
A friend at work, Kristen, has a son who lives with NF. He is 16 years old and his name is Max. I got to know Kristen through work, and met her husband, Scott when he was training for the marathon last year. I am running 26.2 miles for Max, who lives every day with this disease, and his family who give him constant support. Stay tuned for more stories about this journey.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and and I hope you consider donating to NF Northeast.
