BENEFITING: SAVING SPOT RESCUE
EVENT DATE: Mar 20, 2011
Sean Russell and Lisa Randolph are running the 2011 LA Marathon (our first Marathon!) to benefit Saving SPOT! Dog Rescue, a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing dogs from Los Angeles county and city shelters. And here's why:
In the summer of 2009, we decided to add a dog to our little family. We knew that we wanted to rescue, and so we started scouring websites and adoption fairs in search of the perfect pet. When we stumbled upon Saving SPOT!, the non-profit rescue arm of a dog boutique in our West Hollywood neighborhood, we were immediately taken by the kindness and unconditional love with which Lizzie Scherer and her employees showered every Los Angeles shelter dog in their care.
And then, of course, we were taken by a little 4-month-old Corgi mix. Her name is Nora.
When we decided to register for the 2011 LA Marathon, we knew that not running for charity would be a huge missed opportunity. And we can think of no more deserving charity than Saving SPOT! They not only saved our beloved Nora, but do the same for hundreds of other dogs every year. They are that rare Los Angeles business with a heart and soul, giving back to the community selflessly and with a true and inspiring love of animals.
We will be so proud to cross that finish line on March 20th after months of hard training. But we would be even more proud if doing so could enable us to make a whopping donation to Lizzie and everyone at SPOT! Please give if you can. Thank you!
