THE STORY:

ABOUT TOUR DE TED®

The Story / Crowdfeed

Edward Jones is celebrating the life of its second managing partner, Ted Jones, and his vision of serving clients in local communities by hosting a nine-city bike tour in Texas. We call it Tour de Ted – Ride the Lone Star.

Tour de Ted’s focus is to raise funds for cancer research. Each city has selected a charity to receive the funds that are raised.

In addition to giving back to the community by helping to create a cancer-free world, the mission of Tour de Ted is to celebrate firm milestones. With more than 1,000 offices, Texas has the greatest number of Edward Jones branch teams, which makes it an exciting destination for our second Tour de Ted.

Look for Tour de Ted in the following locations:

Sat., Oct. 11 Houston

Sun., Oct. 12 Austin

Mon., Oct. 13 College Station

Tues., Oct. 14 Victoria

Wed., Oct. 15 Corpus Christi

Thurs., Oct. 16 San Antonio

Fri., Oct. 17 Waco

Sat., Oct. 18 Abilene

Sun., Oct. 19 Dallas/Fort Worth

Each ride will begin and end in the city indicated. There will be a variety of routes in each city. So you can ride one … or ride them all!

Community Events

In each location, a special closing event will be hosted by Edward Jones for clients, business associates, Edward Jones associates, and family and friends. This celebration will include food, fun and recognition of the achievements of our riders, donors and volunteers.

About Edward Jones

Edward Jones provides financial services for individual investors in the United States and, through its affiliate, in Canada. Every aspect of the firm’s business, from the types of investment options offered to the location of branch offices, is designed to cater to individual investors in the communities in which they live and work. The firm’s 12,000-plus financial advisors work directly with nearly 7 million clients to understand their personal goals – from college savings to retirement – and create long-term investment solutions that emphasize a well-balanced portfolio and a buy-and-hold strategy. Edward Jones embraces the importance of building long-term, face-to-face relationships with clients, helping them to understand and make sense of the investment options available today.

Edward Jones, which ranked No. 4 on FORTUNE magazine’s “100 Best Companies to Work For 2014,” is headquartered in St. Louis.

The Charities

Tour de Ted – Ride the Lone Star is proud to support eight cancer research charitable organizations. As a rider, you can fundraise for the charity sponsored by the location of your ride. If you are not riding, you can support a team or a rider by donating to the cause. Below are the charities each location is sponsoring.

Houston Ride
Waco Ride

In nine of the past 11 years, MD Anderson Cancer Center has been ranked No. 1 in cancer care by U.S. News and World Report. Last year more than 120,000 people sought care at MD Anderson, and almost 7,600 participants were enrolled in clinical trials.

Austin Ride

Breast Cancer Resource Centers of Texas is staffed by breast cancer survivors who provide individualized support, face-to-face group meetings, online forums and seminars to empower those diagnosed with breast cancer and their families. They also provide access to community resources for individuals facing breast cancer in Central Texas.

College Station Ride
San Antonio Ride

The mission of the Greehey Children's Cancer Research Institute, part of the UT Health Science Center, is to advance scientific knowledge relevant to childhood cancer and to accelerate the translation of knowledge into novel therapies.

Victoria Ride

The Relay for Life of Victoria County is a part of the Relay for Life movement, which raises more than $400 million in more than 5,200 communities and 20 countries across the globe. The American Cancer Society puts these donations to work, investing in groundbreaking research in every type of cancer and providing free information and services to cancer patients and their caregivers.

Corpus Christi Ride

The Ready or Not Foundation is dedicated to the funding of scientific research that targets better treatments and a cure for pediatric brain cancer. Brain tumors are the leading cause of cancer death in children under the age of 19.

Abilene Ride

This ride will support cancer research from three laboratories at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Their goal is to develop targeted and novel immunotherapies for cancer that are safer and more effective than the current traditional approaches to treatment, as well as discover new therapeutic interventions to prevent or cure metastasis, even at the advanced stages.

Dallas / Fort Worth Ride

Known as the "official sponsors of birthdays," the American Cancer Society is dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem through research, education, advocacy and service. Your contributions will be used to fund a cancer research project. The research is occurring in Texas.

St. Louis / Other Riders

Pedal the Cause (PTC) is the premier cycling event in the region, the pinnacle event of the year and the driving force behind creating a world without cancer. PTC gives 100% of participant donations to Siteman Cancer Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital. This provides direct funding to cancer research, cancer discovery grants and clinical translational care not currently eligible for federal funds.

Thank you in advance for your generosity!
