4 October - Update - Hi, It's Jennifer again with an update -- Joe is continuing to train hard -- last Saturday he ran 17 miles! I am so impressed and inspired by his hard work and dedication!
Check back soon for more updates and for some new pictures!
Hi Everyone -- It's Jennifer.
As you may already know, Joe has volunteered to run the 2011 NYC Marathon to raise money for a great non-profit group, the NY Asian Women's Center. As you can imagine, Joe is very busy training, so I am helping him out by commandeering his fund raising page and helping him get to his fundraising goal. As a runner for the NYAWC Team, Joe has committed to raising at least $2,500 on behalf of the organization.
As you know, training for a marathon is a huge commitment for anyone, much less someone who is not a runner. I am so proud of Joe for taking on this challenge. I am amazed and inspired at the level of commitment that Joe has shown thus far in getting in shape for marathon day. He is doing so well and is really progressing -- In fact, he just completed his first 1/2 marathon this past weekend!!!
Please show Joe your love and support by making a donation to the NYAWC through Joe's team member page.
As marathon day gets closer, please check back here for updates (and new photos :)) - - I will be posting updates on Joe's progress and any marathon day "Team Joe" finish line festivities that are sure to be planned!!
A big "thank you" in advance to everyone for their support! Please see below for some information on the fine work being done by the NYAWC.

New York Asian Women's Center-
NYAWC helps women (and their children) recover from domestic violence and human trafficking. As the largest pan-Asian agency in the nation serving domestic violence and human trafficking survivors, we provide comprehensive support services in over 12 languages.
Ultimately, NYAWC shelters women from harm, teaches practical skills and gives back their self-respect and hope for the future.
NYAWC PROGRAMS ARE INNOVATIVE:
We are the only organization that received a grant from the Mayor’s Office to serve human trafficking survivors.
Our services are tailored for Asian women's cultural, social, economic, and legal circumstances.
Because it can be difficult to identify survivors, we train healthcare providers and other agencies to recognize signs of abuse and assist survivors.
Adolescents affected by abuse often act out or become reclusive. NYAWC provides digital art therapy and mentoring to help them express themselves constructively, open up and plan their bright futures.
