Team NYRR Runs for Life
At NYRR, our hearts were heavy on marathon day in Boston last year. Thinking of those who had lost so much, our resolve to make a difference grew stronger. The running community is a tight knit family. We’ve always stood by each other, whether supporting those in need or helping and inspiring others through running. Thanks to the BAA, in Boston on April 21, 2014, we will honor those hurt and lost, cheer on the first responders and appreciate all that is precious and unifying about the marathon. As an NYRR team, we’ll work and we’ll run, in a group salute to Boston and do what we do best – Run for Life. We’ll dedicate our work and runs to Boston and to our kids and their future. We welcome you to join by supporting our efforts as we raise critical funding for the One Fund Boston and NYRR’s Mighty Milers free youth running program. All funds raised will be split evenly between the two initiatives.
The One Fund continues to be a critical resource for those who lost loved ones, survivors, and their families, of the marathon bombings a year ago. Donations will be used to support the ongoing needs of those most affected by the attacks.
NYRR’s Mighty Milers is an incentive-based running program for kids of all fitness levels in grades pre-K through 8. It's designed to get kids moving, to fight obesity and promote wellness. During the 2012-13 school year, over 125,000 Mighty Milers ran 4.5 million miles. Donations can range from $25 to cover the cost for one child to participate in Mighty Milers for a year; $100 to buy two pairs of running shoes for kids; $500 will fund a whole class of Mighty Milers (approximately 20 kids per class). All donations will help support and incentivize kids to start running and stay with it.
For more information about Mighty Milers or NYRR's other youth programs, please contact YouthPrograms.Outreach@nyrr.org or 646-758-9670.
On April 21, over 26.2 miles, through six towns and many neighborhoods, we run to honor those who can’t and to celebrate those who will. We run for Boston.
Thanks for joining us!
